Commercial battery energy storage
Batteries are the most direct answer to demand charges. Dispatched by ecoSEMS®, a right-sized battery clips the peaks refrigeration, HVAC and production create, shifts energy away from on-peak windows, earns demand-response payments and keeps critical loads alive when the grid fails.
Four revenue streams from one asset
Storage economics in our region have changed. Capacity prices in PJM and ISO-New England and new demand-response programs make batteries bankable for C&I customers for the first time.
Demand charge reduction
ecoSEMS forecasts the monthly peak and discharges into it, cutting the billed kW and defeating ratchets.
Time-of-use arbitrage
Charge off-peak or from solar, discharge during 2–7 pm on-peak windows where energy costs two to four times more.
Demand response & capacity
Enroll in PJM, MISO, NYISO, ISO-NE and utility programs (Con Edison CSRP/DLRP, Mass Save ConnectedSolutions, Eversource/RI Energy Connected Solutions) for recurring payments.
Backup & resilience
Ride through outages for cold storage, cleanrooms, IT and life-safety loads; pair with solar for extended islanding.
Power quality
Batteries with modern inverters correct power factor and smooth voltage, avoiding utility penalties.
Program enrollment
ecojiva identifies the utility and public programs your site qualifies for during the free energy model and manages every application.
What you get
Sizing from interval data
We size kW and kWh from your actual 15-minute load, not a rule of thumb, so the battery is neither oversized nor unable to hold the peak.
Lithium iron phosphate (LFP) systems
UL 9540/9540A-listed, NFPA 855-compliant cabinets from tier-one manufacturers, indoor or outdoor.
ecoSEMS dispatch
AI dispatch that co-optimizes demand charges, TOU energy, demand-response events and state-of-charge reserve for backup.
Interconnection & permitting
Utility applications, fire-code review and AHJ permitting handled end to end.
Solar + storage
DC- or AC-coupled with new or existing solar to capture clipped energy and extend backup.
Warranty & service
10–15 year performance warranties with augmentation planning and ecojiva service.
Questions
How much battery do I need to cut my demand charge?
Enough power (kW) to cover the difference between your typical load and the peaks, and enough energy (kWh) to sustain that for the length of the peak, commonly 1–2 hours. A 200 kW facility with sharp 30-minute compressor peaks often needs far less battery than one with a broad afternoon HVAC peak. The free energy model answers this precisely.
Can a battery back up my whole facility?
Backing up an entire industrial site is expensive; backing up the loads that matter (refrigeration, controls, IT, life safety) is not. ecojiva designs a critical-load panel and, where extended outages are a concern, a microgrid with solar and generation. See Microgrids.
Is storage safe to install inside a food or pharma facility?
Yes when engineered correctly. We use LFP chemistry with UL 9540A test data, follow NFPA 855 spacing and ventilation rules, and typically locate outdoor-rated cabinets away from production areas.
