Frequently asked questions
Answers about ecojiva, ecoSEMS, commercial solar, storage, financing and how we work.
What does ecojiva do?
ecojiva, LLC is a turnkey commercial and industrial energy solutions provider headquartered in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. It designs, installs and operates solar PV, battery energy storage, the patented ecoSEMS AI energy management platform, UPS, microgrids and EV charging for businesses, farms, schools and municipalities across 17 Midwest and Northeast states. More than 800 commercial solar systems installed.
What is ecoSEMS and is it patented?
ecoSEMS (Smart Energy Management System) is ecojiva's AI-driven platform for real-time monitoring, predictive demand forecasting, automated load management, battery and solar dispatch, demand response and compliance logging. Its load-management method is covered by U.S. Patent 12,261,432 B2 (granted March 2025) with a continuation pending.
How much does a commercial solar system cost?
Installed cost depends on size, mounting type, roof condition and interconnection requirements, and the net cost after applicable programs is often well below the gross price. The free energy model gives a site-specific price and payback.
How long does a project take?
ecoSEMS controls: typically weeks. Battery storage: 3–9 months depending on utility interconnection and permitting. Commercial solar: 6–12 months including interconnection studies.
Where does ecojiva work?
Throughout the Midwest and Northeast United States, from headquarters in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan.
Do you offer a power purchase agreement?
Yes. Under a PPA ecojiva or a financing partner owns and maintains the system and sells you the power at a fixed rate for 20–25 years, with no capital outlay. ecojiva's six-site, 875 kW St. Johns Public Schools portfolio in Michigan operates under a PPA.
Is ecojiva a minority-owned business?
Yes. ecojiva, LLC is a certified Minority-Owned Business Enterprise (MBE).
Do you service systems you did not install?
Yes. ecojiva's service group maintains and monitors solar, storage, UPS and controls installed by others, including takeover of systems whose original installer is no longer in business.
What do I need to send for the free energy model?
Twelve months of electric bills (PDF) and, if available, interval data from your utility portal. Gas bills help if heating or process fuel is relevant. Turnaround is typically one to two weeks.
Does ecojiva handle the utility interconnection and program paperwork?
Yes. Interconnection applications, permitting, program and rebate applications and demand-response enrollment are all handled by ecojiva's in-house team.
