ecojiva LLC seeks designers/engineers to support our solar projects system design functions. Provide electrical power and controls designs for solar, power distribution, and lighting projects. Work with senior electrical staff in the delivery of quality technical work and projects to the client. Function in a multi-discipline project team environment to deliver quality design projects and technical reports on assigned projects. The successful candidate will use his/her knowledge of the National Electric Code and solar PV design concepts. Selected candidate will be held accountable for completion of assignments to the high standards of ecojiva.
Primary Responsibilities:
Typical duties include PV system design; CAD drawings and sheet set preparation, Design review; Site assessment; System energy modeling energy estimates; Technology evaluation and risk assessment; Site inspections; Contract review of EPC, Construction monitoring; Equipment commissioning and testing and Travel to client and remote sites. Uses computer-aided drafting equipment, computer systems, electrical design and building modeling software. Draws master sketches to scale showing relation of proposed installations to existing facilities and exact specifications and dimensions. Support the preparation of design drawings such as one line diagrams, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, power plans, lighting plans and electrical detail drawings. Produce electrical equipment lists, load lists, conduit and cable schedules as required for the project. Advises supervisor of project status with respect to schedule, budgets, delays and adverse problems; and confers with engineering staff to resolve problems. May supervise, train and mentor other drafters and designers, and coordinate work within discipline group and other discipline groups on the project. Assembles documentation packages and produces drawing sets; and keeps proper files and records related to assigned design activities. Explains drawings to production or construction teams and provides adjustments as necessary, checking throughout project to ensure quality. Understands project scope and ensures designs are consistent with project technical requirements and scope, and works to specifications and discipline-associated instructions in accordance with established design practices, standards and procedures. Reviews completed drawings and cost estimates for accuracy and conformity to standards and regulations. Complies with company’s safety awareness program, office and/or field safety policies. Under direct supervision, provides simple drafting services by preparing and maintaining blueprints, maps, charts, and graphs.
1. Assist in solar PV Systems sizing, equipment selection, and industry best practice recommendations for optimized design.
2. Create basis of design document for the detailed engineering design of renewable energy projects and define Electrical scope.
3. Provide clients with fees and schedule proposals to undertake engineering work.
4. Attend weekly project calls, respond to requests for information submitted by the client, review submittals, and provide specifications for equipment called out in the design.

Job Description
Commercial SOLAR SENIOR DESIGN ENGINEER
The Design Engineer takes the initial system concept from the sales team and translate them into fully detailed construction ready designs for commissioned projects.
Major Responsibilities as Solar PV Design Engineer:
•Calculations & design for PV systems –roof and ground mount systems, AC/DC electrical design, DC stringing, NEC code compliance, fire / building code compliance, and project requirements
•Accurate BOM preparation of electrical and racking components.
•Overseeing project execution from design phase to job completion
•Utilization of custom software tools to design PV ground mounted and roof top systems (Helioscope, Autocad, PVCad)
•Perform accurate system sizing calculations.
•Create electrical single/three-line diagrams, panel schedules, or connection diagrams for solar electric systems, using computer-aided design (AutoCAD experience preferred)
•Run production (PVWatts, PVSyst, etc.) reports for system production estimates.
•Develop optimal designs with SLD, PML, conduit and wire scheduling, routing and equipment plans.
•Execute designs that adhere to grid compliance and permitting requirements.
•Coordinate with Sales team to develop complete proposal packages.

Requirements Senior Design Engineer:
•Minimum 4 years of experience in solar PV system design, residential, commercial, or utility scale.
•Must be proficient in AutoCAD and related Autodesk software.
•Must be proficient in PVSyst and related solar performance modeling software.
•Demonstrated electrical, structuraland mechanical design skills, with the ability to generate accurate, and highly detailed construction drawings.
•Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal skills, including the ability to communicate in a positive manner with project managers, other engineering/design team members, management and installation contractors to foster an environment of superior coordination.
•Good problem solving and critical thinking abilities and a proactive work ethic. Must take accountability of own body of work, closing each project by design completion efficiently, while maintaining accuracy and strict attention to detail.
